If you go to Hong Kong be prepared for the heat, snakes, malaria virus, Hepatits A and land mines too.
So now you are going to hear about my trip. When I first got to the airport we were lost.
Eventually Lisa found us. Then I met my cousins Claudia and Gus for the first time ever. It was fun playing with them but I really liked Lisa’s meals too. They were delicious. Anthony is a pilot. I changed the name from ‘Hong Kong’ to ‘Hot Kong’. I also saw a lot of monkeys in the trees outside Lisa and Anthony’s apartment. There were some pink apartments. I loved Hong Kong.
Parents notes:
In the 16 hours it took to travel to Hong Kong, Tasman did his best to imitate the very hungry caterpillar. He had: 1 can of sprite, 2 pana cotta, 3 cookies, 4 bites of his 'disgusting chicken' dinner, and approximately 5 kgs of cheese. That night he had a tummy ache, but instead of sleeping it off on the plane, Tasman stayed awake for most of the flight playing computer games . When we landed, it was really hot and humid. Tasman turned pale. Later in the day, we were walking in the streets and tasman began to sway on his feet and had to sit on a step outside a dumpling shop for a while.
That night, was Gus 5th Birthday an his mum made an awesome butter cake with green icing and chocolates all over it. Tas had a big slice, and more soft drink. The next morning he woke feeling sick and ran to the bathroom but didn't quite make it. He spewed into his hands and it sprayed out on the wall, the door, the floor and some of Lisa's towels - pretty much everywhere except in the toilet.
For the record, we're pretty sure there are not landmines in Hong Kong (although we did see some wild dogs) and the risk of Hepatitis A is relatively low. Honk Kong is a major world city and with over 7 million people it is one the world's most densely populated cities. But it didnt' really feel like it. It's surprisingly modern, very trendy city sandwiched between the sea and mainland china.
Tasman's aunty (Dad's first counsin) Lisa and her Husband Anthony have been living in China for the past 7 years and showed us some amazing sights - like a cocktail bar on the top floor of a high rise overlooking the harbour and the world's only Michelin Star rated dumpling restaurant - but Tas was most impressed by the market stalls selling hundreds of different types of fidget spinners.
In the three days we were there - Tas and Jeanie became great friends with Claudia and Gus - playing with their hamster Daisy, their dogs Mavis and Henry, and all sleeping in the one room. We're already looking forward to seeing them again one day in New Zealand or maybe even Spain!
Oh and for the record, the monkey's were small - but they had big red monkey butts!
